Strategies for bringing the written word to life in performance
Two-hour workshop
In this practical and supportive workshop, participants will explore how to bring poetry and prose to life through performance.
To take part fully, each person should bring a short extract of writing (approximately 100–200 words). Ideally this will be original work, but it could be any piece they admire and would like to perform. No previous experience is necessary, but a willingness to experiment and collaborate is essential. Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing suitable for an active session and bring a bottle of water.
Working as part of a positive and encouraging team, participants will explore the importance of breathing in performance, develop clarity through articulation and enunciation exercises, and consider how punctuation supports sense and breath when reading aloud.
