A London Lyric

We are all spoken for

the poetry, the pain

                   and the passers-by…

A Figmentum Chapbook

Between the Brown Banks is a chapbook born of walking. I lived in London for almost two decades. I crossed its bridges, followed the Thames, drifted through backstreets and forgotten edges, using the city to disappear and re-emerge, altered. Over time, the city changed— and so did I. What once held my grief began to return it to me, sharp and refracted.

These poems are shaped by what the city keeps and what it discards. Old Father Thames moves through them as witness and bearer, carrying personal loss alongside collective fracture. Interwoven with the poems are photographic images, pauses in the walk, catching the city as it opens and closes.

The river does not resolve these tensions; it returns to them, again and again. This is neither elegy nor requiem, but a love letter written in the knowledge that love, too, can change.
