The Figlet 5 Winter 2026 is bursting with poetry, prose, essays, artwork and illustration from over 60 Isle of Wight writers and illustrators. This season’s theme, 'Friend or Foe?, dives straight into the messy heart of human relationships: loyalty and betrayal, love gone bad, grief, revenge, resilience, and the quiet power of carrying on.
Issue Five also takes a bold look at the world of publishing today, with reflections on career-building, travel writing, songwriting and children’s literature rooted in place and community. Packed with striking visuals, sharp voices, unforgettable stories—and the return of Mr Figgy in ridiculous form—this is The Figlet at its most vivid, courageous and entertaining.

The Figlet Issue Four (Summer 2025)Now in its second year, The Figlet returns with its most vibrant issue yet. Featuring 54 writers, artists, and illustrators, Issue Four brings full-colour artwork to the magazine for the first time.This summer’s theme, “Feast or Famine”, explores hunger and abundance in all their forms—from poetic cravings and aching memories to dragons, jam jars, and the quiet justice of survival.Inside you’ll find poetry, prose, essays, illustrations, and a specially commissioned diptych by Rosemary Lawrey—a breathtaking clash of heron and swan.
